Digital Trust Protocol

1. You sign statements

You tell the network what you think with small signed Nostr events. A trust statement about a person says trust, Neutral, or distrust; publishing an empty one is a Delete that withdraws your earlier statement. A rating gives a post, page, or product a value from 0 to 100. Each new statement replaces your previous one about the same subject (trust statements, ratings).

2. Relays carry them

Nostr relays store and forward the events. Relays are plain servers anyone can run; they cannot change what you said, because every event carries your signature and anyone can check it.

3. Your walk starts from you

To answer a question, the walk begins at you and moves outward level by level through people you trust. A person counts as a step only when their share of trust among the people who reached them meets your green knob — 75 % by default. Distrust and Neutral are noted but never become steps (the walk, qualification).

4. The nearest evidence answers

The walk stops at the first level where someone has spoken about the subject. That evidence becomes the answer: trusted, mixed, distrusted, or none, together with the statements and the path from you (results).

5. Ratings become one indicator

For a post, the average rating at the nearest trusted level becomes a single indicator while you scroll: high means your circle would spend time on it, low means skip. Who rated and why is one tap away (one scroll indicator).

On X, trust points at an X account. That statement becomes a step in your walk only when your web of trust links the account to the Nostr key that controls it. There are two ways to decide that link (identity binding):

Lenient

Believe the link that the nearest person in your web of trust reports. Routes can differ from person to person, because different circles may report different keys.

Strict

The key must also claim the X account in its own signed identity event (kind 10011). Unverified or false links are cut, so routes converge on the key that claims the account.

7. The same rules everywhere

The walk runs in the Attention extension, on your Personal Server, or on a Global Server. All of them follow the same model and cite the same signed events, so any result can be checked.
